It's nice to see cupcakes without any frosting on them. The surface of the cake is perfect for the crumbly soil effect around the sprouts. Dare I say it, they almost look healthy with just a little fondant sprout and lack of buttercream.
The real genius of these little cuties is that there are wee marzipan potatoes studding the chocolate cake soil! The baker made these for her father who is a potato farmer! I might die of preciousness!
How are we all settling into the new school year? I hope your teachers are guiding you into it slowly and not laying on the massive essays in the first weeks. Just remember, there is a cupcake for every occasion. You can always have an appropriate snack.
I absolutely adore "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and these cupcakes are a fantastic representation of the book. My favorite part was always when he ate through all the watermelon. I wanted to be small enough to eat holes through my food too!
