Those tiny macarons studding this cake are like the prettiest, most girly, edible punk spikes. I'd wear a jacket like that.
For my 30th birthday I had a tray of cream puffs and a zombie themed party. I mean, I'm 22! I'll never get old! Ahem. If I ever do make it to the ripe old age of 30, roses may not be my style, but I could never resist a cake with so much gorgeous work. Gimme those cookies!
When I was a wee tot I had a Woodstock Christmas tree ornament. My brother had Snoopy and my sister had... the girl Snoopy. What was her name? Oh that's right, Belle! Thanks Google! Anyway, I always knew that despite species, Woodstock was always top dog. This cake proves it.
I love the motif of kind of spiky flowers like this on baked goods. It contrasts nicely with the soft roundness of the cake itself, don't you think? I don't know much about flowers but I bet you guys do; are there real life spiky flowers like that out in the wild?
Did you ever make sunprints as a kid with that crazy probably super toxic blue paper? You lay something on top of it that you want a silhouette of and just leave it in the sun and you get something that looks almost exactly like this cake! This was done with food coloring in an airbrush gun and flowers as a stencil. Incredible effect, and you can eat it!
