It's gotta be someone's birthday somewhere, right? Let's eat cake in celebration!
I think we could add this dish to our previously planned Carbfest 2011 to go with the mini cups of mac and cheese. This is my kind of frosting; salty, starchy, full of butter and garlic. It must be lunchtime because I am drooling over here.
I LOVE beets! Sadly, last time I was peeling some in preparation for roasting, my hand swelled up super huge and scarylike and I had to take a Benadryl and fell asleep and then I was afraid to ever eat beets again because if that's what happens to the outside of my body, imagine the inside of my throat! Terrifying. So now I can only lust after beets from afar. Love you beets!
So much cupcake decorating is based on the notion of piling heaps of stuff on top of the cake, it's refreshing to see someone make use of negative space here, so to speak. A creamy pool of frosting in the middle of the cake is a nice change!
