As an American, I'm not super familiar with the traditional high tea ritual. Once for a bachelorette party I had tea at the Bellagio with a bunch of fancy ladies. We had champagne and lots of tiny delicious foods. This cake would have been a gaudy yet not unwelcome addition.
It's a bee theme today! I love the shallow little pool of sticky honey on top of these sugar cookie capped cupcakes. Honey is a flavor that just doesn't get enough attention. It's so flowery and delicate and amazing. And to think little BEES make it! They are like little stinging magicians!
