Hey owl! It's okay, you can come sit with us! Here, borrow my scarf, you look cold. Do you want some of my hot chocolate? So when do we get to dig into this awesome cake anyway?
This cake makes me think of the book "Afternoon of the Elves" by Janet Talyor Lisle which I read when I was only 11. It's reminiscent of a girl in boots that are too big who spends all her time building houses for elves out of leaves in her back yard. But now she's all grown up and getting married to an equally elvin man and they are having a simple barefoot wedding in the woods.
I imagine it would take a tremendous effort to restrain myself enough to get chips onto these little trees without eating them all first. Let's just say that's possible and move on. Any party with chip trees is probably the best party ever. Please invite me.
The best thing about these cookies to me is the fact that they didn't turn over all the M&Ms to make them plain red. I see this as a sign of smart priorities. Just jam the chocolates on there as fast as you can because the sooner they're done, the sooner we can eat them!
