John Dies at the End may not be all I was hoping for, but it's still a fun enough movie, especially if you go see it with the right mindset. Hansel and Gretel on the other hand... just don't.

Will you see either of these movies this weekend? Be sure to tell us what you think.

Branded is a bad movie, no question about that. That doesn't mean it should be avoided at all costs though. If you love bad movies, or love to riff on them MST3K style, you couldn't ask for much better material.

Unfortunately, that's all we get for sci-fi this week. Hopefully we'll get some better movies soon. Are you going to see Branded? If you do, for whatever reason, be sure to tell us what you think.

While some of the action scenes can be pretty cool, the new Total Recall isn't nearly as fun to watch or as memorable as the 1990 version.

Will you go see Total Recall this weekend, or will you stay home and watch Ahnold's version again? Or you could always read the short story, "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale," especially if you haven't already. Seriously, go read it. It's amazing.

While Battleship isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, it's still awful. And long. Really long. I guess if you're really looking for an action movie and are sick of The Avengers, Battleship might satisfy you for a little while. Even then, I'd recommend staying home and renting something.

But this is just one large cat's opinion. Will you see Battleship? If you do, tell us what you thought of it.

Snow White and the Huntsman is mostly a fine fairy tale movie with some good ideas and fun special effects. Unfortunately, it gets bogged down by some really boring expository scenes that last way too long. The most frustrating thing is the movie tells us way too much about the characters and their motivations in dialog without ever showing us. We're never shown why Kristen Stewart is considered fairer than Charlize Theron. (Probably because that would require technology that doesn't ye

This one was hard to rate. Men in Black 3 has problems, and is by no means a great movie, but I couldn't call it "meh" after enjoying it as much as I did. It has the same kind of charm that the first Men in Black did even if it's not as good. Also, the 3D is actually pretty good for a post-conversion. I still didn't think it was worth the $18 ticket, but if you're really into 3D movies, this one has some nice effects.

This is just one cat's opinion. If you end up seeing

In fact, there are two good movies out this weekend. The other one, "The Woman in Black," is not sci-fi, but is a fun ghost story, and Daniel Radcliffe does a fantastic job. While I think most will have more fun with "Chronicle," both movies are definitely worth seeing. You may have a hard decision ahead of you this weekend. Which movie will you see?

While the script has some problems, Prometheus more than makes up for them with brilliant acting, beautiful direction and extraordinarily tense and terrifying moments. Even the 3D worked perfectly and was never distracting or disorienting. As someone who is generally tired of 3D, it's nice to see a movie come along that does it well.

Will you see Prometheus this weekend? Or do you live in Europe and have already seen it? Either way, tell us what you think.

The Amazing Spider-Man actually turned out much better than I thought it was going to be. If it hadn't been for that terribly long, drawn out ending, it probably would have gotten a higher rating. The way the quality of the writing changed so frequently throughout the film was weird though. Some scenes, the dialog would be fine, sometimes even good. Then a scene would come and ruin all of that with ham-fisted, embarrassing monologues. It's like they had two teams of writers. One that wa

It's hard to talk about Looper without spoiling it, so I'll just say it's a smart and fun sci-fi action movie that you should see in theaters. It has some problems, but the tight storytelling, great characters, and interesting world more than make up for any issues I had.

These kinds of movies are hard to rate. Resident Evil: Retribution is a bad movie. It's too bad to receive a "Ceiling Cat Approves," but too fun to be called either "Meh," or "Ebil." This movie gets our first "Basement Cat Approves," specifically designed for movies that are truly bad, but that's why we like them.

Brave, while not Pixar's best movie, is still a great original fairy tale. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on the other hand, is mostly boring and way too self-serious, but is redeemed at least a little bit by some fun vampire fight scenes. You'll likely get at least some enjoyment out of either movie, but I'd recommend Brave over Lincoln any day.
