This may surprise you, but New Zealand really likes Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Air New Zealand even partnered with WETA Workshop to make this safety video.
Two guys go to New Zealand and walk from the Hobbiton set to the mountain used for Mount Doom.
(Lord of the Rings)
Holy s**t, please let this happen! Nothing is officially set up yet, but there is interest from both sides. Matt Smith said in a recent interview:
"Let's get Peter Jackson to direct one and go and make it in New Zealand. I would love to, I will campaign endlessly to come over and film there."
And Peter Jackson thinks that's a good idea too.
"I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt's fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I'll be there!"
What kind of episode do you think Jackson would direct?
You know, this place looks an awful lot like New Zealand.
Peter Jackson gives us an update, now that he's started filming part two of "The Hobbit."
