Leislmoon says: "This is a picture of my Great grandmother on her wedding day. She is still alive, and even though her husband is now dead, she still feels a great fondness for him, and looks back upon this picture as the best day of her life."
Delisacrafton says: "My grandparents were to be married October but my grandpa was in the army and couldn't come home because of the Cuban missile crisis. When he did finally come home it was December and they got married. They were married in another city than they lived which was an hour away and they forgot to tell the camera man. A week later they put back on their clothes and took this picture in a photo studio thus being their only wedding picture."
Today is my parent's Silver Wedding Anniversary. This picture was taken after they got married at New York City Hall. 25 years of marriage is an extraordinary achievement especially for todays standards. And after raising tripletts, plus two other children, our family is anything but ordinary.
Awesome. I love that your mom wore black to her wedding! I also am genuinely concerned for the person on the right who appears to be passed out. I hope he or she lived through the party to see these last 25 years too.
My grandfather was 17 when he joined the Navy as a nurse and was put on a ship during WWII. I was always told that my grandmother waited for him while he was overseas. They were together until he died in '98, and she followed just a few years later. This is my favorite wedding photo of them. I think my grandmother is just gorgeous.
Good idea on getting married before he sailed off. Walking down the aisle when you haven't got your land legs back would be no fun, after all. Thanks for sharing your grandparent's story!
