This is a picture of my grandparents' wedding in 1949. Although they have been divorced for nearly 40 years, they both died in 2011, only a half year apart.

Thank you for sharing this story and great photo with us! At the risk of sounding irreverent, I'm pretty sure I know what your grandfather was thinking when this photo was taken.

Remember aspiring announcers, if you're a total jerk but have an upper class British accent, everyone will find you delightful.

The Problem With Vintage

The problem with vintage cars is that sometimes at very clutch moments you realize why we don't drive cars like these anymore...

My grandfather was 17 when he joined the Navy as a nurse and was put on a ship during WWII. I was always told that my grandmother waited for him while he was overseas. They were together until he died in '98, and she followed just a few years later. This is my favorite wedding photo of them. I think my grandmother is just gorgeous.

Good idea on getting married before he sailed off. Walking down the aisle when you haven't got your land legs back would be no fun, after all. Thanks for sharing your grandparent's story!

These are my grandparents, Glen and Dody. They met and married shortly after he returned from WWII. Their marriage lasted over 60 years before he passed away in the summer of 2011. I just love every single one of the pictures of their wedding, it's just so classic and beautiful.

Dig in, newlyweds. You don't know it yet, but the next 60 years are going to be just as sweet! Thanks for sending in such a great picture.

Dad was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Corps of Engineers. Mom & Dad got married at Ft. Lewis Washington after the war, and his men decorated this earth mover as their "carriage" from the chapel to the reception. This is a colorized black and white, and I especially like how they drew in a rainbow in the background.
