This is my great-grandfather (Piotr) and great-grandmother's (Magdelena) wedding. They were married in 1907, less 4 years after they immigrated to America from Poland.

my parents got married on march 18th 1972. they were 19 years old. they started to date at 15. we all know marraige is hard and raising kids and running a house is hard. but they made it work and are still going strong. they raised three girls and are now grandparents of 5. i wish them 40 more years of bliss!

My Mums schoolfriend married her French Canadian in a very Make do and mend WWII ceremony you can tell its a wedding because someone gave Doris a silver paper horseshoe for luck,they emmigrated to Montreal and had a very happy family.

What a great photo! I was unfamiliar with this tradition, but as submitter Diddleymaz pointed out, it was a Canadian custom for wartime brides to carry silver horseshoes made of paper. You can read more about Canadian War Brides at the <
