I'm always happy to see a cake carry a theme through inside and out. It's sad when the outside of a cake is spectacular and the inside is boring.
Sometimes you only want one little cookie. Sometimes you only want one little hard peppermint. I think this philosophy stretches across a lot of disciplines. Sometimes you only want one little cup of coffee, kiss from the dog, shot of tequila, chocolate on your pillow... I could go on and on.
It's been a long time since I had strawberry milk, and while I don't remember it with particular fondness, There is something appealing about a strawberry flavored cookie with a creamy sweet filling. I'd almost even prefer it if it was a little artificial tasting.
Red and white do make a fantastic combo, don't they? And snowflakes are so satisfying in their symmetry and fragility. Basically, winter is magic, and the buttery, spicy delicious treats we get to indulge in without any guilt make the holidays rich. Bring on the cookies, I'm ready!
