In sad futility, I've eaten the buttons off of all my cardigans hoping in vain that they were candy.
My grandmother used to make excellent shortbread. She'd melt the butter and sugar together using the heat of her bare hands, massaging it between her fingers until it all melded together uniformly. They were so buttery and tender and delicious. They would have been perfectly worthy of becoming little Totoros.
It's rainy season for sure, but that's good because it means we have the chance to see more rainbows! Here in Seattle there isn't a lot of color yet. People here tend to dress like the weather in grays and browns and greens. On the grayest of gray days I'd like to have a few of these cookies stashed away somewhere to brighten things up a little.
