I love the motif of kind of spiky flowers like this on baked goods. It contrasts nicely with the soft roundness of the cake itself, don't you think? I don't know much about flowers but I bet you guys do; are there real life spiky flowers like that out in the wild?
The most uncomfortable throne ever, made into the least cake-like cake I've ever seen. In a way, it all comes together to be one of the coolest cakes I've seen in a while. And it makes me want to go home and read and drink tea because I'm only about 200 pages into "A Clash of Kings" and need some serious time with the Starks and Lannisters.
Sometimes the universe sends you not-so-subtle hints about what you should be doing with your time. I think this means I should be spending more time molding tiny household appliances out of fondant, right? Let's just say that's what this is about.
There are a million Mario cupcakes out there and pretty much all of them are adorable. I particularly like these because of how simple they are. The shapes are basic and effective, the fondant is smooth and not too thick, and Mario's mustache is as full as ever.
