Mary Tamm passed away today at the age of 62 after an 18-month battle with cancer. Tamm played the Doctor's companion Romana, alongside Tom Baker. A phenomenal actress, she also had roles on Wire in the Blood, Eastenders, and many great live theatre productions, including Private Lives and Abigail's Party.
"On set and offstage, her earthy northern humour and self-deprecating wit brightened every occasion. She was a consummate actress, and immensely popular in the profession," said her husband, Marcus Ringrose. "We will all miss her."
