Sci-Fi del Grande Gatto: Branded

Branded is a bad movie, no question about that. That doesn't mean it should be avoided at all costs though. If you love bad movies, or love to riff on them MST3K style, you couldn't ask for much better material.

Unfortunately, that's all we get for sci-fi this week. Hopefully we'll get some better movies soon. Are you going to see Branded? If you do, for whatever reason, be sure to tell us what you think.

While some of the action scenes can be pretty cool, the new Total Recall isn't nearly as fun to watch or as memorable as the 1990 version.

Will you go see Total Recall this weekend, or will you stay home and watch Ahnold's version again? Or you could always read the short story, "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale," especially if you haven't already. Seriously, go read it. Right now. It's amazing.

This is definitely one of those movies where nearly all the funny parts were in the trailer. The rest of the movie has a few minor chuckles and not much more. If you're still really interested in it, I'd recommend waiting for it to come out on DVD or Streaming and renting it.

If you do end up seeing The Watch though, please tell us what you think.

Despite some flaws, The Dark Knight Rises is still a great movie and a satisfying end to the series. Best of all, it isn't in 3D! Some scenes were shot in IMAX though, so if you have the opportunity, it is definitely worth seeing the movie that way.

Be sure to tell us what you think of the movie!

The Amazing Spider-Man actually turned out much better than I thought it was going to be. If it hadn't been for that terribly long, drawn out ending, it probably would have gotten a higher rating. The way the quality of the writing changed so frequently throughout the film was weird though. It's like they had two teams of writers. One that was interested in developing characters and telling a good story, and one that had to be told the paper was for writing on, not eating.

Still, it is fairly enjoyable, though completely unnecessary and forgettable.

Will you see The Amazing Spider-Man? If you do, be sure to tell us what you think.

Brave, while not Pixar's best movie, is still a great original fairy tale. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on the other hand, is mostly boring and way too self-serious, but is redeemed at least a little bit by some fun vampire fight scenes. You'll likely get at least some enjoyment out of either movie, but I'd recommend Brave over Lincoln any day.

Which one will you go see this weekend? Or will you go see this week's less fantastical fare, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World? Whatever you end up seeing, tell us what you think in the comments.

While the script has some problems, Prometheus more than makes up for them with brilliant acting, beautiful direction and extraordinarily tense and terrifying moments. Even the 3D worked perfectly and was never distracting or disorienting. As someone who is generally tired of 3D, it's nice to see a movie come along that does it well.

Will you see Prometheus this weekend? Or do you live in Europe and have already seen it? Either way, tell us what you think.
