35 years ago today, Star Wars: A New Hope was released in theaters. In celebration, here's a performance from this year's Emerald City Comicon where some of our favorite voice actors read the script of the movie in some of their best-known voices.
"In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit." On September 21, 1937, J.R.R. Tolkien published The Hobbit. 75 years later, we're still reading about that hobbit who left that hole in the ground to follow a band of dwarves and a wizard on a great adventure. The children's novel has been translated into more than 40 languages, sold tens of millions of copies, and has been made into an upcoming movie trilogy. It even had a series of sequels you may have heard of.
Thanks for years of adventure, Bilbo Baggins. Happy 75th Birthday!
Ten years ago this September Firefly premiered on TV. To celebrate, Jeff Halsey made this poster of the Serenity. If you're wondering, the small text says:
"'But it ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Love. You can know all the math in the 'Verse, but take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.' – Captain Malcolm Reynolds"
